RUGBY CLUBS MERGE
Local rugby clubs Chesterfield RUFC and North Derbyshire RUFC have concluded a merger to take immediate effect. The move, which has the full support of the RFU, will see the formation of one stronger club in the area of Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire. The new club will be known by the name of Chesterfield Panthers RUFC.
The Panthers will make their lair at Sheffield Road, Stonegravels at the ground previously used by the Chesterfield club and will be fielding Senior Mens and Ladies teams in the RFU league and cup competitions for the coming season.
The Mens 1st team will be playing in Midlands 5 (East) and the Ladies, who will be looking to build on their successful Championship winning season last time out, will be in the National Conference 2 (Yorkshire & North Midlands). The Junior section of the Club will be fielding teams at all ages from Under 7s to Under 19s in the various competitions organised by the Notts, Lincs and Derbyshire RFU. It is also intended to run a Veterans Mens team and start a Girls team during the coming season.
The first Annual General Meeting of the Club was held on 3rd June and the following members were elected to the committee of the Club.

All players, both old and new, are welcome at the Club. Training for the Senior sides has already started as both the mens and ladies sections look forward to the new season. Mens teams are training on Wednesday evenings whilst the Ladies are training on Thursdays. Junior teams will be training on an ad hoc basis throughout the summer with a serious return to rugby for all of the squads towards the end of August.
