CPRUFC CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

 

Chesterfield is committed to ensuring that all young people, male and female, club members, opposition players  watch, learn or participate in rugby union enjoy their experience in a safe, well-managed environment.    

Chesterfield acknowledges and adopts the recommendations of the governing body, the RFU, and at all times seeks to implement best practice in line with achieving the ‘Seal of Approval' accreditation and Sport England ‘Clubmark' awards hopefully will recognize Chesterfield as a safe, efficient and child-friendly rugby club.

 

In whatever form it may take, child abuse is never acceptable. 

 

WORKING WITH CHILDREN

 

All the Club's volunteers and employees working with, or in contact with young people should:

        be are aware of the problem of child abuse in all its forms;

        safeguard players from abuse or danger through good practice;

        report all concerns about possible mal-practice, or other actions leading to abuse;

        respond appropriately when mal-practice or abuse is observed or suspected. 

As part of the RFU's commitment to Child Protection and the ‘UR Safe in RU' campaign, all Hoppers' coaches, administrators and observers have signed the RFU recommended self-declaration form acknowledging their respect of and commitment to young people.  

An appropriately qualified 'Child Welfare Officer' is appointed to deal with all matters of child protection or allied issues. 

All volunteers and club employees working with children, will complete the Criminal Record Bureau ‘Disclosure' application for clearance to work with children.

 

CODES OF CONDUCT

 

All adults working with, coaching, supervising or watching young players either at Chesterfield or at other venues are expected to observe CRUFC’s Codes of Conduct and the Equity in Sport statement published in the Youth Rugby Handbook and displayed within the Club.   

All such adults are encouraged to attend an accredited Child Protection course.  

   

APPROPRIATE QUALIFICATIONS

 

All coaches, assistant coaches and helpers are encouraged to take and complete the appropriate RFU Mini/Midi, Youth or Adult coaching qualifications as currently available. 

'Coaches' should hold Level One or their equivalent; all age group ‘Lead Coaches' should hold at least the Level Two qualification.   

 

Chris Johnson - Chesterfield Child Welfare Officer

Chris was appointed as ‘Person In Charge' to oversee Child Protection matters at the Club in 2006.

Chris has a sub comittee to help him with any issues raised within the Child Welfare.

 

Anyone (coach, parent, spectator, or match official) with concerns about any such problem should contact Chris at the club or a appropriate committee member who will give you her contact details.  

 

CPRUFC AGE GRADES & REGISTRATION POLICY

 

Chesterfield’s policy regarding their playing squads is that, despite some flexibility allowed with the Continuum, ALL Mini players play and train within their own age group, ie under the relevant age on 1st September at the beginning of the season.  

 

All Junior sides should play and train within their own age groups except for the ‘Pathway to the Top’ ages of Colts and Development XV’s and ultimately the 1st XV.  

The Laws of the Game state:

Under 13s may play with Under 14s, but not with Under 15s or above

Under 14s may play with Under 15s, but not with Under 16s or above

Under 15s may play with Under 16s, but not with Under 17s or above

Under 16s may play with Under 17s and Under 18s, but not with Under 19s or above

Under 17s may play with Under 18s and Under 19s, but not those aged 19 and over

 

NB        A player under 19 on 1st September is deemed to be Under 19 for the season.  A player birthday.may not play within the adult game (with players over 19) until reaching his 17th

 

ALL CPRUFC PLAYERS must be properly registered with the Club for the season and have fully completed their RFU Young Player Registration form (and supplied passport-style photographs) before they play a match for the Club.
